  • I worked in the Mountain View department(s) in the hospital. This is a great hopsital. Orientation is 40 hours that gives time to do their computer modules, treasure hunts to find where things are, and this doesn’t include the 36 hours for on floor orientation. They will set you up for success. However, my only gripe is they have you do another fit test upon arrival and use a background agency to check references again. They utilize the standard mandated ratios. Five for Med Surg and Four for Telemetry. Sometimes they don’t go by acuity. The Nurse Manager is retiring summer 2020 but she is reachable and if not available calls you back within a day. My schedule was able to be blocked three days in a row. They didn’t float me. They cancelled me four times of no fault of their own due to the Earthquake they had. I was going to be extended but my agency wasn’t paying me correctly - three strikes your out so I had to sever the relationship. If you have a good agency you could make well with this place. Everyone is welcoming and professional. I will miss the staff here. 08/02/2019
  • Housing was approximately 5 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was VIP Housing. Housing was located in city of Ridgecrest . On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 4. They have a few complexes out here for contract workers so you might not get the apartment complex listed in photos such as a gym, pool, or private patio. Their furnished are used but clean. You will have everything you need - kitchenware, linens, etc. There was an earthquake here and they were attentive to needs and even checked in. My AC broke and they immediately came to bring me a temp AC and it was fixed in three days. I had to leave early due to contract issues but overall they were awesome. Stay here if you need a furnished place as it will be less than staying in a hotel.
  • I worked in the OR department(s) in the hospital. 12/14/2018
  • Housing was approximately 7 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was RV . Housing was located in city of Ridgecrest. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 4.
  • I worked in the LD/OB department(s) in the hospital. The Hospital is very traveler friendly. I came there thinking I could do without shopping but soon felt very secluded being 1 1/2 hours from a place to shop, have some of your chain places. Best part of Ridgecrest I found is good Mexican food and love Grape Leaf Restaurant. Another advantage at the hospital is they bring around a cart with made up plates and feed their staff at night for free. Food in the Cafeteria food is very cheap. 09/13/2015
  • Housing was approximately 1 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was VIP Housing. Housing was located in city of Ridgecrest. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 3. I had a apt. that had a garage, 1 bedroom with a back yard. The kitchen was very outdated but useable. The cost was very high for the area. Apartments rent for $400-600 but this housing furnished was $1548 a month. I had no problems here but other nurses have had problems with AC not working, being very hot.
  • I worked in the Medsurg/Tele department(s) in the hospital. This place is unique but an awesome experience. VERY small rural hospital, only twenty-something inpatients at a time for the whole place. So workload is extremely manageable and I enjoyed being at work. Mostly filipino staff who are the best! Loved every one of them, all super friendly. They don't get too many travelers so they take you in like you're one of their own and really made me feel welcome. Very cute little town, plenty of cool little shops and places to eat, a movie theater. But its super isolated and takes 2-3 hours to get anywhere outside of this town (bakersfield, LA, etc). Overall I'd recommend this assignment in a heartbeat. 08/19/2014
