  • I worked in the Labor and delivery department(s) in the hospital. This has been the worst hospital I've ever worked in. The nursing office was great however when I got to the hospital no one knew who I was why I was there or that I was coming. They told me I couldn't start without a badge which are only made tues-thurs so I went in first thing Tuesday morning to the basement of the hospital to figure out how to get a badge when it was finally made they told me I had to go to nursing admin who told me that I had been scheduled for the night before. She took me upstairs to the unit where I was met by pissass nurses who had zero intention of welcoming me there. They referred me to the nurse manager in a different part of the hospital who asked if I minded coming back the next day and that she would have it set up for me. I came back the next day where I was again greeted by a room full of people who knew nothing about me. They said you're going to be with this nurse and she took off she never told me where to put my stuff or where to change. I then spent the day with a woman telling me not to touch her patients and that everyone knows to stay out of her way. We went through two sections where she pretended to be taking care of the patients for as long as she could so she could get out early. The second day the doctor asked how he pt was doing we said we would try pushing with her and would let him know how she did I then delivered the baby because he was nowhere to be found minutes later. Since then it has been a shit show the nurses are nasty to travelers and each other. There is no team work and it's every man for themselves depending on the group you are working with. There are a hand full of gems dispersed but a majority do their best to make sure you are completely miserable. The nurses run as if they are doctors with no regard to how nursing works they run their own orders every single pt regardless of their situation is NPO and on bed rest when they walk through the door. Doctors cut episiotomies on almost every patient for no reason other than that they want it to go quicker and they don't want to repair something that itsnt a straight line. There are no showers let alone tubs anywhere on the unit no birthing balls or squat bars or anything that is conducive to laboring with a patient. Very few patients go without epidurals whether they want them or not and some anesthesiologists hackle the patients about whether they have insurance or not and if they plan on applying before they leave the hospital. There is one nurse that does the schedule and for the entire last month of my assignment she gave me no say in my schedule at all and made it for me. She will give me multiple patients regardless of where they are in labor progression and thinks nothing about assigning a patient in hellp on magnesium in addition to an active labor patient. Stay far far away. 4/11/17 04/12/2017
  • Housing was approximately 1.5 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was N/a. Housing was located in city of Long Beach . On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 5. I took the stipend and got an airbnb that was entirely too expensive 2,200 a month for a room attached to another room attic apartment but it was close to the hospital and really nice laundry ammentites furnished trash and parking included. Landlord was excellent.
  • I worked in the Labor/Delivery department(s) in the hospital. The staff is awful to Travelers! Just in the 1 month I was there, before I decided that my company needed to remove me from the contract, 1 of 4 other Travelers completed their contract and the other 3 also broke contract. They are inflexible with schedules, and documented MD recommendations are ignored. When I interview I have Pre Contract questions I ask, so hopefully I can avoid a "Hell Hole". That only works out if the Director is truthful in the answers that are given. Well, in short this unit was a DEFINITE HELL HOLE!! TRAVELERS BEWARE!! 03/31/2014
  • Housing was approximately 5 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Extended Stay America . Housing was located in city of Long Beach. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 3. Basic kitchenette room, grab & go breakfast (muffins, breakfast Bars, coffee, Tea) offered in the mornings. Minimal washing/drying facilities. Flat screen TV's with cable in the guest room. Very welcoming and friendly staff!
