  • I worked in the MedSurg department(s) in the hospital. This was a BRUTAL assignment. I had 4 patients every shift and they had meds every 2 hrs, plus txs q 2hrs, plus IVs, one in restraints, going for tests, having bedside procedures. I was stunned when I was told the nurses dont do assessment because they don't have time. There is also no seating readily available, I stood on my feet for over 13 hrs. I didnt get 15 minute breaks, or lunch breaks. When they are short of aides, the RN is expected to be the CNA too. I went to an RN whose patient was in the same room as one of mine, told the RN the patient didnt look good, he said we'll check her at report which was nearly 45 minutes away. The patient coded and died. Also they make you pay $10.00 for a name badge, and you have to pay for parking. The cafteria is terrible, no food at 1pm or 5pm and what they do have is not good. I cancelled this assignment as it was just not safe. 08/12/2020
