  • I worked in the ICU department(s) in the hospital. *Please keep in mind that this is a city funded hospital, a safety net hospital for the city of Nashville.* ICU Manager left after being placed on administrative leave about 3 weeks ago. All but a couple of ICU staff nurses quit without notice the same day, so the unit is severely understaffed. There is literally no one to cover for you if you have to call in sick. Several travelers have walked off the unit or just quit showing up or answering phone calls. Complete lack of order on the unit due to no permanent manager, as the Director of Nursing has had to take on the role of ICU NM on top of her current responsibilities. Staff and higher ups become very defensive and dismissive when confronted with uncomfortable, unsafe, or unnecessary situations that are brought to their attention. Hospital flow is a mess, patients being admitted to the ICU with no ICU level needs and are then transferred to the floor a few hours after arrival. Completely disorganized covid protocols with regards to PPE donning and doffing, decontamination of supplies and staff upon leaving covid area to re enter nurses station. No scrub exchange so you have to wear your covid scrubs home. They do have a decent supply of PPE in the ICU at the moment, though. Given 3 hours of computer charting system orientation - they use the original ancient version of Allscripts and the system is a complete nightmare. Charge nurses and staff nurses are somewhat lazy and reluctant to help you with anything; will purposely give travelers all the admissions and busy patients and will only give staff admissions or busy assignments if they absolutely have to. Equipment is old and lots of devices are broken or out of service. While it has been slowly getting better these last few weeks, the overall morale on the unit is very poor. No one wants to be there and it is super obvious. 08/19/2020
  • Housing was approximately 10 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Private ownrr. Housing was located in city of Nashville. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 3. Very hard to find reasonably priced private furnished housing in Nashville; ultimately I ended up having to find a person renting out a furnished room in their home.
  • I worked in the Telemetry department(s) in the hospital. Charting system is archaic and backwards, chain of command when trying to reach a doctor is convoluted and ridiculous, techs and nurses bully travelers. 04/29/2020
  • Housing was approximately 5 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Private home found on furnished finder. Housing was located in city of Nashville. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 3. Separate apartment in a private home located in a nice neighborhood, I only give it a low rating because of the incessant and uncontrolled dog barking at the residence.
