  • I worked in the Labor & Delivery department(s) in the hospital. I can't speak for the whole hospital, but L&D is very short staffed. They do about 200 deliveries a month. Usual ratio of 1:2, and often 1:3 when it's busy. You still have to care for a second patient even when you're pushing/recovering. Typically have 4-6 nurses per shift. They have a weird mix of computer and paper charting, even though it's all supposed to be electronic and many things get double charted. Lots of wasted paper doing unnecessary tasks. The staff is super friendly, welcoming and grateful for travelers. Doctors act like they want to be anywhere but at the hospital, and some won't work with travelers. The midwives basically manage patients unless a C-section is needed. There is an in-house anesthesiologist. No OB hospitalist. They have a Level III NICU. 04/24/2018
  • Housing was approximately 10 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was private. Housing was located in city of Pompano Beach. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 3. Housing is pricey compared to the pay rates offered by most agencies. I found an inexpensive, pet-friendly room in a house on Craigslist. Found out when I got here the further you are from the fancy beach areas, the neighborhoods can sometimes be not as nice.
