- I worked in the SDU department(s) in the hospital. Cox Branson, in general, actually cares about the general well being of their staff. During the interview, I was promised ratios of 3-5 which has been fulfilled. There are two separate parts of the unit. If you work in the 'more critical' part of the unit, you get 3 patients max; most are ok where it's fine. The other part is general m/s-tele. Most coworkers are very supportive, and most doctors are incredibly nice and include you in decision making. There is A LOT of turn over, but the patients aren't bad at all. In fact, I will say, that the people here in general are some of the nicest i've ever met. I've only had one patient i've despised.
In terms of area, there's a lot of shows that can be seen (for free! or at a steep discount) if you work here, and a giant lake where you can kayak or boat. My wife and I haven't felt threatened at all; this is one of the safer places we've ever lived. 08/02/2019
Housing was approximately 5 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Private. Housing was located in city of branson. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 5. furnishedfinders.com on hideaway st. we were their first renters. incredibly nice people. house was in excellent condition, 3 BR 2BR. Rent was ~1400/mo - I worked in the PCU department(s) in the hospital. I worked in the PCU department(s) in the hospital. Unsafe work load for this type of unit, 1/6 nurse/patient ratio. Travelers given worst acuity patients, totals, critical ill and room assignments spread out. Usually only 1 tech on floor if lucky. Nurses have to go to ER to get their new admit patients, no one to cover their floor pts while off unit. Horrible team work! Only the travelers help each other when possible. Totally UNSAFE. Stay away! Training is done in Springfield Cox hospital, not much orientation to Branson.
