  • I worked in the L&D department(s) in the hospital. Very small hospital. Small labor unit that’s also used as a clinic during the day. Also cared for post surgical patients. Friendly staff. Predominantly Native American population and culture. Restaurants in the area are pricey but the food is good. Th Westmark Hotel has good food and and awesome bartender named Ramon who make a mean Mojito. The Bayview Pub serves a great Sunday Brunch and also sponsored several types of entertainment. Awesome scenery. Bald eagles in abundance. I was there Jan through July 2013. I had good weather for the most part though it rained a lot. It wa a good experience and I would go back again. 03/18/2019
    • Housing was approximately 2 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was “Above the Sea”. Housing was located in city of Sitka . On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 5. Great apartment that was built onto a family home. I had access to their outside hot tub. Housing prices increase during the fishing season in the spring and it is more difficult to find. When I extended my assignment I was able to acquire housing in hospital housing right next to the hospital. It was small and had the basics, but was nothing to write home about except the price was great and it was very close to the hospital. I literally walked across the parking lot to get to work.
  • I worked in the LDRP department(s) in the hospital. I had an great experience while there on assignment. I ended up extending for a total of 6 months. The hospital is very small and somewhat primitive. Paper charting. The L 03/18/2019
    • Housing was approximately 2 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was ‘Above The Sea” (1st place I stayed). 2nd place was apartment right beside the hospital.. Housing was located in city of Sitka. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 5. “Above the Sea” was an apartment connected to a family home. It was small and quaint and I had access to an outside hot tub. Internet was available. Owners were very nice. The apartment next to the hospital was small and cozy. It had the basics, but not much else, but the price was great!
  • I worked in the ED/ICU department(s) in the hospital. This place is great. Everyone is very nice and ready to help. It's a very small hospital, you will be asked to float at times, but it's not a constant thing. 09/23/2016
    • Housing was approximately 3 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Found own housing . Housing was located in city of Sitka. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 3. Housing is difficult to find in the summer time and is a lot more expensive. Bringing a pet is hard to do too. Housing is available, you just have to look. If you take a job in Sitka, join "Sitka Chatters" on FB and post what you're looking for, it's great for finding a home and car. The whole population of Sitka is wonderful.
