- I worked in the ED department(s) in the hospital. There is always at least one or two staff that are unfriendly, as is the case here. But for the most part, the staff here was VERY VERY nice!!!! Very welcoming. Team players. Union hospital so 4:1 ratio and always got breaks. The staff isn't happy but it is a CHS hospital, so of course... I mean CHS sucks and we all know that. But this staff really pulls together and makes the best of what they got! I would go back. It is Northern california, it is close to Santa Cruz - which is one of if not THE most expensive place in the US to live, so you NEED TO BE REALISTIC AND BE PREPARED FOR HOUSING EXPENSES. It's not cheap. But Santa Cruz is AWESOME. 11/06/2016
Housing was approximately 15 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was private rental. Housing was located in city of Soquel. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 5. I rented a guest house in a duplex from a person on craigslist that actually wasn't a scam. She now advertises on the travel nurse face book pages and is pet friendly. It's not cheap. Northern california is not cheap. San Jose, Santa Cruz, San Francisco - THE MOST EXPENSIVE PLACES IN THE US TO LIVE so be prepared and be realistic. - I worked in the DOU/TELE department(s) in the hospital. This hospital is horrible, dayshift charge nurses as well as other day shift nurses are all out to get each other, act like a bunch of passive aggressive unprofessional idiots. Will try to get you in trouble verses taking care of their patients. NO MONITOR TECH which is very unsafe. Aides are always sent home by ignorant house supervisors. Linda house supervisor is horrible, complete tool. Elizabeth is the only good house supervisor there. Dr. Gallagher is one of the most unprofessional and rude doctors I have ever had the unpleasant experience of dealing with, complete jerk. The medical care hear is a travesty, this place has a redundant charting system that does not make sense, its horrible. All around terrible hospital, only good thing was the crisis rate, but not really worth it. Oh the Manager is a joke to, no backbone whatsoever. Lots of ETOH with drawl patients here that speak Spanish only and are extremely rude, Dominican diverts these GREAT patients to Watsonville Community hospital. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this dump. Oh and they have a dayshift RN named Elvira that is disgusting doesn't wash her hands after taking care of C-Diff patients and touches everything. Elvira also writes everyone up for anything she can, but does not take good care of her own patients!! Oh and charge nurse from days Susan is a complete psychopath. Some nurses here definitely need to be fired and sent down the road. STAY AWAY FROM HERE!!!! 07/21/2016
