  • I worked in the Tele department(s) in the hospital. Overall I have had a great experience with Sharp as a traveler and actually came back for a second contract with Sharp. The staff at Sharp make this a great place to work. The patient ratios are excellent at 1:4 for tele patients. Sharp is also very flexible with scheduling and accommodates time off requests. There is little to no micromanaging at Sharp. Charge nurses are out of staffing. There are often resource nurses available out of staffing as well. You always receive your 30 minute lunch break. I do float to other units on approximately half of my shifts. I have also had to float to other Sharp hospitals including Coronado, Grossmont (most frequently), Chula Vista, and Mary Birch. At times, I am canceled or placed on call up to once every two weeks due to low census. I would recommend choosing a travel agency that offers low census protection/guaranteed pay. Overall, Sharp is a great place to work as a traveler and I would like to work as a staff nurse here once I am ready to quit traveling. 02/23/2019
  • Housing was approximately 5 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Craigslist housing. Housing was located in city of San Diego, Pacific Beach. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 5. I am staying in a tiny home/guest house in Pacific Beach.
  • I worked in the MICU department(s) in the hospital. My husband and I were contracted in the ICU's for 13 weeks. Besides orientation, we did not see the ICU for the first 6 weeks of our contract. We were floated every shift to different units within Sharp Memorial and also to different hospitals within the health system. The staff were friendly and helpful, but the management team in the MICU was not very friendly. Overall, our experience was very unpleasant. We have been traveling for 2 years and this has been our worst assignment in terms of how we were treated while employed at Sharp. If you are and ICU traveler I would recommend applying to Sharp Grossmont for a more positive experience or UCSD. • Housing was approximately 10 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Mission Bay RV Resort. Housing was located in city of San Diego. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 4.
  • I worked in the Neuro/Trauma PCU department(s) in the hospital. I really loved working on the Neuro/Trauma PCU. I had no prior trauma experience, and my charge RN's were very good at making sure I was comfortable with my assignment, and making sure newly admitted pts were appropriate for my skill level. Within a couple of weeks, they were giving me simple traumas, so that I was able to continue to learn. I was floated very frequently though. Sometimes up to 2 out of my 3 shifts. Some of the med/surg units were really rough to work on, especially if it was a floor with a lot of diabetics, because RNs are responsible for doing glucose checks and providing coverage at meal time, and often doing your own vitals every 4 hours. The nurses aides were helpful, but i wish they had a larger scope of practice. The nurses here seemed to be happy with their jobs, which made it easier to work here. 09/05/2017
  • Housing was approximately 5 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was AirBNB. Housing was located in city of North Park. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 5. I rented a room, and my housemate was awesome.
  • I worked in the ER department(s) in the hospital. After a lot of time, money and effort invested to get to this job, they cancelled my contract. They did way too much orienting me as a traveler to the whole hospital, and too little time orienting to charting and on the unit things. They don't assess their pts but tell you to mark everything "WNL". Very fast paced. 02/28/2017
  • Housing was approximately 20 min. mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was I found my own. Housing was located in city of Mission Beach. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 5. My housing was great, but now that my contract was cancelled, I'm stuck with the balance of my lease
  • I worked in the med surg department(s) in the hospital. This is just a sad example of what was once a great hospital. They don't have many traveling nurses so the ones the do have they don't care about. It's a pretty hospital. But it's all a facade. 06/01/2015
  • Housing was approximately 6 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Craigslist. Housing was located in city of La Jolla. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 4. Housing costs are absolutely outrageous. San Diego is not a safe place. I had my wallet and camera stolen when I was out one night and the police wouldn't do anything.
