  • I worked in the CCU department(s) in the hospital. I worked at this facility for 6 months, after being put in charge of the ICU and precepting their own hires into the ICU they then hired too many travel nurses to be able to keep everyone working. Subsequently they canceled several contracts mine included and were unwilling to communicate with me after canceling for any type of feedback. I was disappointed in the way management handled a lot of issues there 04/12/2021
  • Housing was approximately .5 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Private. Housing was located in city of Whiteville . On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 2. I was highly disappointed in the housing situation because there basically was none, I ended up getting way over charged twice the standard rental price because the landlord knew that the travel nurses had no housing options
  • I worked in the Float department(s) in the hospital. Columbus Regional Hospital in Whiteville, NC is prfoundly behind in Technology. I constantly questioned the way I was being told to give medications then I realized the staff really doesn't know any better and they have been doing it incorrectly for so long that any other valid suggestion is viewed as demeaning when you are just trying to help. They use Paragon computer charting and its awful. Profoundly immature staff and very cliquish. The leadership/ charge nurses are less than 3 years out as nurses young and immature. Moreover, if they don't like you your life will be a living HELL! Management/ staff are mostly related/relatives. If you valid clinical issues with anyone...forget it because the person you may have an issue with may be related to the person in charge. I was floated to the ER and the charge nurse S.W was in a bad mood. She was menstruating and she was having problems with her bf. She took it out on the entire staff and refused to assist me on a transfer because "my back hurt and I don't da$%it feel good" I reported it to management becasue there was such a delay in this pt receiving higher level of care and was told "yes that's just S.W. when she is a bad mood everyone suffers" and then Mgt laughed..then I realized they were fb friends. Management everyone are fb friends. There is nothing to do in this town so fb is like God sent to these people! Professional boundaries are crossed at this facility. I cried every single day I was scheduled. The CNAs do not help...why should they? Their manager is most likely their cousin, sister in law, sister etc etc. No professionalism whatsoever! Stay away. Seasoned good nurses are not appreciated because the staff is so young. Columbus Rgional Medical Center in Whiteville, NC has Diversity issues, professionalism issues, technology issues, and it is UNSAFE! The only good thing about this place was free parking! 04/20/2015
  • Housing was approximately 3 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was private housing. Housing was located in city of Taborn, NC. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 1. Housing sucks! This place is int he middle of nowhere. Their ONLY shopping center is a local Wal Mart. Their best restauraunt is a Hardees!
  • I worked in the ED department(s) in the hospital. ... Okay the town was established in 1861 and named " Whiteville" for a reason. I'm a white female and I was appalled at their treatment of black staff and Hispanic and black patients. This community hospital violates Title VI of the Civil Rights Act by not allowing LEP ( limited English patients) the right to telephone interpreters. Telephone interpreters are available... The staff chooses not to use the resource! I heard soooo many racial slurs from staff that I was sickened. I spoke up about it and NOTHING happened. I am from California and I NEVER knew such racism still exists in our society! The parking is great because it's free! Very very poor uneducated staff that are also very clique-ish. I was okay until I spoke up about their mistreatment of blacks and Hispanics. I was then alienated so I isolated myself to the racial slurs and simply took care of my patients. BTW only 2 Sherriff in the entire city. Don't count on them to to help you as one of the Sherriff is the son of my Asst nurse Manager. In addition the Asst Nurse Mgrs daughter , daughter in law, sister, and daughter in law ALL work in the ED! If you have issues you better keep it to yourself as there is NO ONE to talk to.... Staff mostly all related! Stay Away from Columbus Regional in Whiteville, NC! 04/04/2015
  • Housing was approximately 56 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Cape Harbour. Housing was located in city of Wilmington. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 4. Housing was good just too far from facility. It took me an hour to get there. The reason why my housing was so far is because the town only has "income based housing" and Travelers Haven does not have relationships with income based.
