  • I worked in the Med/surg and floated to tele department(s) in the hospital. This hospital was a nightmare to work for. I worked days and had 6 tele patients, I had to refuse to take 7 because I felt my license was in jeopardy. Nurse manager lies to travelers in the interview about ratios. I Refused an extension here, and after I did the nurse Manager fired me 2 days before my contract was up staying I had a "bad attitude about taking 7 patients" (she told me 5-6 in interview) and that I couldn't handle it when my patient needed to be transferred to ICU. They tried to give me 7 patients even though I refused, and charge nurse accepted admission from Ed on my behalf while I was transporting another patient to MRI, got back on the floor and went to assess the new admission, and had to call a code immediately bc patient was arresting with eyes rolled in the back of his head. Code called, no one on floor responds, charge nurse who accepted patient In that condition doesn't even seem concerned, I end up having to push a patient who is coding through the hospital to transfer to ICU, while this is happening charge nurse makes sure to tell me I had to take an ICU transfer if I was transferring that patient. Words don't describe how dangerous this hospital is. 11/23/2014
  • Housing was approximately 25 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was mission ranch. Housing was located in city of San antonio. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 2. Housing was a 30 min drive
  • I worked in the Ortho department(s) in the hospital. Would not recommend this facility to anyone. Myself and other travelers they have there had a horrible orientation on the floor. My second night by myself they TOLD me I was going to be charge while I was getting report. Multiple nurses on staff will tell you their poor perception of the place they themselves work at. Us travelers at this hospital still don't have access to multiple things, including their lab drawing system. Nurses draw all of their own labs with their 7-1 patient ratio. They also have physicians enter orders in their computer system OR they write them on paper. So you have to constantly look through both to check orders depending on the physicians preference for entry. 11/09/2014
