  • I worked in the BMT department(s) in the hospital. This has been my best job yet. I have experience as an oncology nurse but am not a transplant nurse. This did not affect my work on this unit and I was still treated with respect. I worked with mostly blood cancer pts and ~ a week out post transplant patients. The staff are awesome and very appreciative for travelers so long as you are competent and not lazy. The average ratio was 3:1, 4:1 was a "bad day." Day shift seemed to have quite more stressful shifts than nights. Most pts are independent and ambulatory. It's helpful if you can hang chemo but not absolutely necessary. I would highly recommend this floor to anyone. I've heard the rest of the hospital has some challenging pt populations (as per most hospitals), but I love BMT! Our patients were the best! 08/27/2018
  • Housing was approximately 23 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Whispering Hills RV Park. Housing was located in city of Georgetown, KY. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 4. Well kept campground. Spaces pretty close to one another but not over bearing. Pool is super nice, but on weekends full of kids. Office staff are really kind. Dog friendly. No specific area for dogs to run, but when not busy there's places to take dogs off leash. Easy to get some mail/packages. My husband offered dog sitting to anyone in the campground and got a lot of one day business for those going to nearby local attractions for the day. Highly recommend.
  • I worked in the Med Surg department(s) in the hospital. Lexington was a fun lively college town with some of the most friendly people. Lots of activites to do: Biking along Heritage Trail, world class horse farms, Keeneland racetrack, breweries, wineries, world famous Bourbon Trail, hiking in Red River gorge, live music and lots of fun Ballroom/Swing Dancing kept me busy during days off 02/06/2017
  • Housing was approximately 2 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was air bnb. Housing was located in city of Lexington. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 5. Rented a loft downtown near Rupp arena which offered an easy commute as well as walking access to all of downtown Lexington which was very clean as well as friendly.
  • I worked in the PCU department(s) in the hospital. Plenty to do in Lexington with horse farms, shopping and different restaurants. Also have a few wineries and craft breweries in the area. Plenty of outdoor activities with local lakes, biking trails and university sporting events. The hospital has both old and new areas, but a little confusing to get around in. All the staff were great and appreciated the travelers coming in to help them out. Management was a different story. They had promised self scheduling which did not happen and did not tell the travelers that they would have to work every weekend and holiday during our assignment. Staffing office were rude to you on the phone if they called to ask you to work extra or call you off. 01/21/2014
  • Housing was approximately 5 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was I found my own. Housing was located in city of Lexington. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 4. I chose to find my own housing since I was so close to home. I was able to make a little extra money that way
