  • I worked in the Labor and Delivery department(s) in the hospital. I worked in L&D and had a great experience. I really liked it here! The staff were friendly, welcoming, and seemed truly glad to have me there, especially the management team. The workload was standard for L&D most of the time. There were days of course that things got a little crazy, but hey that's healthcare! And Labor! Overall my experience was great. Everyone was very friendly, even the docs. They do have a Very medical approach to labor, which is honestly not my style, but they are attempting to move toward a more natural approach and using more evidence based practices. They are a very high risk institution, so that is what they are used to, but they are getting more and more lower risk patients. They are very up to date with research and the latest treatments for complications of pregnancy. And I got to learn a lot while I was there. A great hospital! This whole campus floods, invest in some knee high rain boots because when it rains it can flood quick! 11/02/2016
  • Housing was approximately 3 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was I found my own. Housing was located in city of West Ashley . On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 5. West Ashley was a safe area with everything I needed. Charleston is an awesome city! So pretty and historical! The weather is usually beautiful and warm.
  • I worked in the NNICU department(s) in the hospital. James Island is a nice area 09/01/2015
  • Housing was approximately 2.7 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Colonial Grand at Quarterdeck. Housing was located in city of Charleston- James Island. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 3. The apartment was expensive, average condition, the office staff was average. Work orders took a long time to be completed, the lights outside my apartment still don't work after several weeks of requests. The location is the only really great part of living here.
  • I worked in the ER- 1 west department(s) in the hospital. The staff was extremely friendly and very greatful to have travelers coming to help with the staffing issues. ERs normally have a large amount of staff turnover and this one was no different in that aspect. It is a level 1 trauma center and a teaching hospital which was a great learning experience. Some areas of Charleston are not as nice as others, as the other reviewer has said, stay away from North Charleston. James and Johns Island, west ashley, and some parts of downtown are a little safer. Charleston is a gorgeous city with a lot to do on your time off 06/24/2015
  • Housing was approximately 7 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was meridian place- James Island. Housing was located in city of Charleston. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 5.
  • I worked in the Medical/Surgical department(s) in the hospital. There are many buildings housing many units. The main hospital is old but maintained. The computer system is new but is outdated with many different programs to chart in which makes it hard to find the information after one enters it. Each floor has its horror stories but I would suggest trying to get into the ART building if possible, it is new and more updated. 04/26/2008
  • Housing was approximately 5 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was any thing on James Island is good. Housing was located in city of Charleston. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 5. James Island, West Ashley areas are the best to live in. Stay away from N. Charleston and Downtown which are not as safe in certain parts.
