  • I worked in the ICU department(s) in the hospital. This could have been a great assignment had it not been for one doctor. Unfortunately the one cardiovascular surgeon had quite a few patients there. This doctor only knows how to manage open heart patients that follow the pathway...if he had to manage a patient that didn't get up and walk the day after surgery...the patient was in trouble...and the nurse was made to feel awful. He would not intervene when I called about an a-line that continued to bleed SIX hours after it was dicontinued. (he ended up having to suture it when he finally came in to see the patient the next morning.) However, the patient didn't tolerate the blood loss well and dropped her pressures and urine output. Mind you this was an old lady that already had kidney trouble and a run of hemodialysis. I finally ended the contract when the doctor blew up at me for telling him I wouldn't give meds to this same lady since she failed her swallow study. It was just so unreasonably stressful working with this man. One of his two P.A.'s were also exceptionally unpleasant to work with. Actually, you didn't "work with" them...you just were suppose to follow orders regardless of how unrealistic they were. Same doc wanted me to AMBULATE a patient who was unable to hold herself up as we dangled her at the side of the bed. (same patient that had the a-line issue and failed swallow study.) The nurse manager had no backbone and wouldn't stand up to this doc when I brought my concerns to her. I'm sure the hospital would have been a great place otherwise. 04/06/2008
  • Housing was approximately 12 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Mountain View Apartments. Housing was located in city of Wausau. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 2. Spacious apartments that allowed dogs. Extremely close neighbors and no privacy unless all blinds closed. Near train tracks...no view of any mountain.
  • I worked in the surgery department(s) in the hospital. The hospital is brand new so everything is clean and new technology. However, if you are looking for a fast paced place this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a slower pace, easy going, this is a good place. Alot of call is available but you don't get called in alot in CVOR but general OR gets called in fairly often. 09/04/2007
  • Housing was approximately 3 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Pioneer Village. Housing was located in city of Schofield. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 4. Nice sized 1 bedroom apartment but no washer/dryer in unit. Was a nice quiet building very clean.
