  • I worked in the ER department(s) in the hospital. I'll start with the good. I felt like the staff in the ER were great towards travelers, the ICU staff however were pretty rude. Doctors and PAs were great towards travelers as well. They use EPIC which is wonderful. Not gonna beat around the bush here, this hospital is pretty dated and also in a semi rough part of the Boston suburb area. Most of their patient's are people going through ETOH withdrawal, heroin ODs and psychs. And psychs can be violent. Patient loads can vary from 4-7 depending on staffing. And they were short on night techs to help with vitals, blood work etc. Ton of overtime hours available. Had to pay for parking across the street but it was prorated since I was only there for 13 weeks. I think it was like $45 for the whole assignment? Overall, I learned a lot (interesting pt. population) and the pay seemed to be pretty good for this assignment compared to other hospitals in the area. 10/13/2016
  • Housing was approximately 5-7 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Airbnb. Housing was located in city of Somerville. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 1. I found my own housing on Airbnb and it was disastrous. Housing is very difficult to find in the Boston/Suburb area so I really didn't have a choice. I ended up having to share a room with another female (divided) for three months because the owner of the home falsely advertised his available rooms on Airbnb. I searched long and hard looking for another place to live and just couldn't afford it. I had to make do and complain to Airbnb about it after my contract was over with. DO NOT look for housing in Chelsea and Revere (very high crime). My advice to you is to either have company find housing or look for housing up in Medford or Malden if you will be working at this hospital. The closer you get to Somerville, Cambridge, Boston, price goes WAY UP.
