  • I worked in the tele department(s) in the hospital. Ehh. Some staff are pretty nice and helpful. Though there are also staff that like to dump on travelers with the admissions or heavy patients or pull shenanigans with floating - travelers are supposed to float in turn with perm staff but there are ways around that if you are friendly with the house sup or rig the float log book or just flat out lie. Mayberry/small town politics in the hospital for sure. Some practices seem quite backwards, and some nurses have spent their entire career in this 80 or so bed hospital and *really* fear change or suggestions on doing something differently. In the valley. About an hour from Sequoia Nat'l park and a little over two to the coast. Otherwise, keep in mind the valley; particularly this area, has the worst air quality in the nation due to being surrounded on three sides with mountains. Ag central and all the pollutants from animal/crop farms. There are plenty of delicious fresh produce stands in the area though! Temps in the triple digits almost all summer long. Sadly this is the second best assignment I've had in 2 years. No matter your agency you'll have to deal with Cross Country for this contract. And at least 8-10 hours of orientation modules prior to starting. A 'C' rating I'd say. 08/12/2016
  • Housing was approximately 30 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was hotel. Housing was located in city of Tulare. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 4. Was not able to find an apt so stayed in a hotel. It was nice, but who wants to live in a hotel for months...
