  • I worked in the DRMU/GMU department(s) in the hospital. Staff was very friendly and open to travelers. They encounter constant staff shortages and difficulty retaining permanent staff d/t low pay for permanent RNs, but the staff they do have is excellent, helpful and dedicated to their jobs. Doctors are friendly and generally communicate well with RNs. My schedule was perfect. RN/pt. ratio could get a bit tough at times, but the patient acuity was relatively low for a med/surg unit and staffing ratios *usually* felt safe. Many travelers have extended and I would consider going back. The general area of Lynchburg is somewhat boring, there's not much to do unless you drive an hour or two. 01/17/2017

  • Housing was approximately 3 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Walden Pond Apartments. Housing was located in city of Lynchburg. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 5. Clean and safe complex with a beautiful walking path and small lake. No traffic on the drive to/from work.
  • I worked in the Diabetic Renal Unit department(s) in the hospital. This unit was a wonderful assignment because of the care and concern of the staff for the patients and EACH OTHER. They operate as a true team and are willing to help each other whenever needed. They speak highly of each other and always "manage each other up" to patients and families. This is a wonderful assignment! 03/15/2016
