  • I worked in the PICU department(s) in the hospital. I am finishing up a 17 week contract at TCH-West Campus in Katy (a hair past Houston)TX. This has been a really great contract. I worked night shift and it has been a great experience. The staff is very friendly and treats travelers as a regular part of the staff. I will say that I heard day shift can be a tougher crowd to get along with, although I never personally had this experience. Management was great and treated me like a valuable member of the staff. One caveat is that this is a satellite hospital to Texas Children's main campus. If you are use to taking care of sick sick kids, you wont really have that opportunity here. That was an adjustment for me, but it didn't detract from my experience here. Of course being an ICU nurse at heart, I want to take care of super sick patients, so know that going into this assignment that the opportunity isn't always in abundance. But I do recommend this hospital. The nurses are great, the techs are awesome and the RTs are great too. As with any hospital you don't always click with every staff member, but overall I would highly rate my experience here. 02/17/2016
  • Housing was approximately 8 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was n/a. Housing was located in city of houston. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 5. I took the housing stipend and used AirBnB to find my housing. Houston is such a big city that I didn't have any trouble finding a place. Be forewarned that traffic in Houston is horrendous. It takes a while to get anywhere, so keep that in mind when choosing your housing.
