  • I worked in the labor and delivery department(s) in the hospital. Float, float, float to PP. Keep up on your charting in either area because you may be floated again in a few hours (union contract states travelers float first). One day of orientation ( 4 hrs with educator, 4 hrs reading the resource book, 4 hrs of on the floor ) . Next shift you are on your own . If there are two pts on the floor the travelers will get them while the staff has none. Docs and CNM's excellent to the staff and travelers. Always short staffed and sometimes there is no one avail to help with a delivery so you do both mom and baby. Good money but the wear and tear will get to you. 02/10/2016
  • Housing was approximately 12 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was had a roommate. Housing was located in city of Union City. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 5.
  • I worked in the Med Surg department(s) in the hospital. Orientation to the floor was a joke. One day on the floor with a nurse and for more than half of it they pulled me off the unit for classes. There are never enough staff, so you search forever for some one to waist or double check medications, and there is one PCT for every 14 patients. I get direct admits without any information. I have had patients in rooms, in street clothes waiting over 20 minutes to be admitted or for some one to even tell me they were there. The money is good, but that's about the only good thing I can say about this assignment. 11/25/2015
  • Housing was approximately 13 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Summer House. Housing was located in city of Alameda. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 2. The apartment complex, Summer House, is not very safe. It's about a 20 minute drive to work. There were plenty of other better apartments on the island, but of course AMN won't pay for that. Summer House has gates and building doors that are always propped open. The office doesn't care about your safety, so they do nothing and just keep letting people prop doors open. People are always partying and smoking weed everywhere.
