  • I worked in the OR department(s) in the hospital. The OR director lied to 3 travelers, myself included, in order to get us there. The hospital is HCA so we were all guaranteed hours but I was specifically told in the interview that I would be sent home early on slow days. My first thought was great finally a travel assignment that I won't be worked to death... It was like a breath of fresh air to hear that. Unfortunately one they roped me in and I arrived, I found that the manager won't allow travelers to leave early. "You're getting paid for 40 hours so you might at well be here"... that was her logic even though I sit around doing nothing for most of my shift most days of the week. Travelers are also forced to do house keeping tasks in out patient. Hello!? I'm a surgical technologist not house kkeeping and I don't want to terminally clean your OR rooms while your ACTUAL house keepers sit in the lounge watching their favorite daytime soaps! I was also never told in the interview process that I would be required to do scopes (endo/EGD) and not anywhere on my skills checklist does it say I do eyes but was forced to learn those as well. 08/17/2015
  • Housing was approximately 5 mile(s) from the hospital. The name of the housing complex was Travelers Haven. Housing was located in city of Clifton Forge. On a scale from 1 to 5, I would rate it a 3. Housing? Not affordable in the least little bit though the travel company unless you are traveling with a partner. $2200/month for a house that should only rent out for about $450. $500-600 is the highest rent in the area. The area on Virginia itself it beautiful but I would never recommend the hospital as a place to work.
